I found this beautiful vintage cake stand at Think Twice Consignment in Gillette, NJ. It is made by Fenton and the pattern is Silvercrest, which was produced from 1942 to 1986 when it was discontinued. This one is from the 1950’s and is milk white with a crystal clear ruffled edge. I envision this being used at holiday parties, birthday celebrations, or bridal/baby showers covered with colorful treats. As an alternative to giving a bottle of wine as a hostess gift, one could present a dessert on a pretty cake stand for the hostess to keep–it’s creative and memorable. (I must confess, I like this one too much to give away.)
You can find cake stands of similar style at Macy’s Martha Stewart’s collection.

I love these old cake plates. I have a Hobnail milkglass one made by Fenton also. I use it year round and like you, it’s too special to give as a gift although it was given as a gift to me by a very generous friend. We saw both styles of these plates at several tents in Round Top, but they were all very expensive. Hang on to your treasure. Thanks for following me! Dianne
