My mom has been serving overnight house guests this breakfast casserole for years. It’s perfect for company because you can make it ahead and just put in the oven. It will make your whole house smell yummy. I serve this to my house guests with bacon and fruit salad—needless to say, this is quite indulgent which is why I only bake it a few times a year. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
- 12-16 slices bread with crust
- 2 (8 oz.) pkg. cream cheese
- 1 doz. eggs
- 2 c. milk
- 1/3 c. pure maple syrup
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions:
Remove crust from bread. Place half of the bread slices in a 9 x 14 inch casserole dish. Cube cream cheese and layer on top of bread. Then layer on the remaining bread slices. Whip eggs, milk, vanilla, and syrup together; pour over entire area. Cover with plastic and let sit overnight in refrigerator. Remove plastic for baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 45 minutes. Let stand 5 minutes before serving. Add additional syrup if desired.

Loved the french toast recipe on the blog – the perfect combo – beautiful decor and wonderful food! And if it’s a Cece recipe it’s sure to be delicious.
Is there a print button for the recipe?

I have made this dish. I found it years ago in a magazine interview with a Bed and Breakfast Inn. It is a brunch favorite here. Enjoy.
