In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, I am showcasing some of my favorite red patterned china. These transferware pieces are made by Ridgway, Staffordshire in England and the pattern is called “Shadow Rose” (stamped on the back). The pattern is as pretty as any chintz pattern I have ever seen with a dark pink rose pattern, on a cream background, with roses in all stages of bloom from buds to full bloom. This is a lesser known pattern and there is not a lot of info about its age, but it was likely made in the 1950s.
